Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is a Jesus Formed Community on Mission.
Community, Formation and Mission are the three main ways that we believe we are to live out our discipleship to Jesus. We believe that through Gospel teaching, training, and resources, God’s people are enabled to take their discipleship into their own hands. We do this by living out the listening, serving, and helping posture of Jesus in our church community.
Calvary Chapel will be engaging in the mission of God to reach those who are far from God and his kingdom by engaging in spiritual formation, practicing the way of Jesus through the spiritual disciplines in community and putting the life of Jesus and the community of the spirit on display through non-threatening exposures to the Jesus community. The ministry began with the church located in Costa Mesa, CA and has flourished and expanded into a multifaceted ministry whose influence has reached to the ends of the earth. We have now re-focused as a local Church-centered organization with a goal of forming, resourcing and educating followers of Jesus
At The Chapel Store, our mission is to share biblically sound books, Bibles, gifts, and music with our customers. As a Chapel Store Clerk, you'll bring a warm, Christ-like attitude, offering kindness, patience, and care to everyone who walks through our doors. Becoming an expert on our products and helping create an inviting, friendly atmosphere where customers feel valued.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS - Agree with and live out the vision and values of CCCM as outlined in the Statement of Faith (
- Agree with and live out Calvary Chapel’s Code of Conduct and Youth Protection Policy
- Be an example to those whom you come in contact and serve with by exuding the love of Christ, understanding that it is a privilege to serve the Lord in vocational ministry and that those who serve God on staff at CCCM are expected to embrace a high biblical, Christ-like standard of conduct and lifestyle, both public and personal.
- Excellent customer service including cash register operation at Point of Sale, assisting shoppers on sales floor, answering the telephone, and creating a welcoming and hospitable environment.
- Housekeeping including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows and sanitizing register, cash wrap area, back desk areas, doorknobs and shelves.
- Handling special orders; which includes researching items using Bookstore manager, the Internet and industry contacts.
- Assist in the presentation, display and merchandising of books and merchandise in the store.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS - Regular, Weekends and Evening work.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS - Strong computer skills in data base systems and/or point of sale systems, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Retail or customer service experience preferred
- Excellent communication, teamwork and multi-tasking skills
- Cash handling principles and practices
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; bend; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required include soft and loud sounds.
