Forward Global’s US government affairs team is searching for a Director who will focus on exceptional client service, day-to-day execution of client priorities, and support firm-wide business development. They will have experience in a wide range of client management roles, including business and persuasive writing, policy research, and reporting. This is a role for someone with 4 – 6 years’ experience in a congressional office or government affairs firm setting.
Team members are expected to work collaboratively. We are looking for someone with a high degree of intelligence and innate drive to join the firm. A successful Director will be a highly motivated, dynamic, self-starter who thrives on autonomy.
This role is based in our Georgetown, Washington DC office and is on-site five days a week.
Key Responsibilities
Support execution of day-to-day advancement of multiple client priorities through internal and external engagement with client, local/state/federal government, third party organizations, and officials, as directed
Execute outreach and relationship building with key government stakeholders to achieve client goals and advance policy priorities
Analyze policy developments and key stakeholder networks to better inform client campaigns and efficiently pursue client goals
Supports monitoring and reporting of program status, deliverables, and opportunity development
Conducts research and outreach in support of relationship development with relevant individuals and organizations to support achievement of client’s public policy goals
Maintain a calendar and logistics for multiple clients
Ideal Candidate
At least four years of professional experience working on Capitol Hill, a similar government affairs consultancy, or relevant organization
Knowledge of the legislative process, with emphasis on the appropriations process, and experience working through relationships with government offices to achieve policy wins
Experience supporting financial services, trade, health care, energy, or technology policy preferred
Ability to quickly master complex issues and simplify them to support education of policymakers and staff
Skilled in producing a variety of analysis and written documents, including memos, briefings, presentations, legislative text, and others
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
Experience with PoliticoPro, and similar legislative tracking platforms
Works independently but collaboratively
Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities
Willingness to travel up to 25%
